Positive atmosphere prevails over Aoun-Mikati meeting

A meeting was held on Saturday afternoon between President Michel Aoun and Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati at the Baabda Presidential Palace.

During the meeting, Aoun and Mikati continued discussions over the Cabinet lineup.

This as LBCI obtained information stating that the atmosphere was positive, adding that Mikati is due to continue processing some new ministerial requests from other parties.

Earlier in the day, President Aoun tweeted that he hopes "white smoke" will appear soon with regards to the formation of a new Cabinet.

Lebanese politicians have failed to agree on a new government since Prime Minister Hassan Diab quit last August after the Beirut port blast, and is now serving in a caretaker capacity.
