Rai condemns Tayouneh and Ain el-Remmaneh incident during Sunday sermon

Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai condemned on Sunday the Tayouneh and Ain el-Remmaneh’s incident and the accompanied “armed manifestations that were used among brothers in the same country.”

Rai’s comments were made during his Sunday’s sermon whereby he urged Lebanon’s youth to express their will in the upcoming elections.

“The democratic system has provided us with peaceful means to express our opinion. As a result, no party may use threats and violence, or setting up checkpoints on public routes, to achieve its objectives by force," he added.

Rai also stressed that “undermining national peace and fraternal good-neighborliness is unacceptable, whatever its source.”

The patriarch also praised and supported the role of the Lebanese army in preserving the national security.
