Bassil: Dropping women and megacenter quotas is a blow to reforms

Head of Free Patriotic Movement Gebran Bassil tweeted on Tuesday: “We had submitted a law to adopt mixed lists (men and women) for the 2022 elections with the adoption of a women's quota of 16 seats for two consecutive terms starting in 2026 to ensure women's access to Parliament. Dropping the women's quota, that of the expatriates, and megacenter is a blow to the much needed reforms to strengthen democracy.
