Minister of Social Affairs Hector Hajjar explained on Thursday in a press conference all preparations to launch the ration card in order to support the poorest families in Lebanon, adding that “the national program to support the poorest families was launched 11 years ago when the number of families benefiting from it was 36,000, as it will be raised to 75,000 families the reason why we need to visit 120,000 families registered before 2021.”

He also mentioned that “they have drawn up a plan, and until next February they will visit families with the help of some other institutions in order to see through them who are the poorest,” stressing that "these families will receive assistance worth about 126 dollars, which was previously provided in LBP.”

“The second project is linked to the Affairs Ministry as well as the rest of the ministries and is parallel to the project for the poorest families, which is The Emergency Social Safety Net,” Hajjar stated and continued by explaining that “this project started as an agreement between the World Bank and the Lebanon. It aims to support about 160,000 families at $126 per family.”
