Mikati meets President of General Labor Union

Prime Minister Najib Mikati received President of the General Labor Union Bechara al-Asmar at the head of a delegation that included Secretary-General Saad el-Din Sakr and Head of the Labor Union in the North Shadi el-Sayed, this morning in the Grand Serail.

Following the meeting, al-Asmar announced that "today's visit to the PM is to clarify the issue of the decree prepared for the public sector regarding the lump-sum amounts for a period of two months, which was signed by the Minister of Finance. Therefore, this decree must be reconsidered.”

Al-Asmar added: "Secondly, we asked to speed up the transportation decree for the public sector, and also to speed up the transportation decree for the private sector, and that the lump-sum amounts be paid to the private sector quickly and that they be declared to the National Social Security Fund, and it is necessary that these things be done quickly before the holidays."

"We also called for allocating transfer compensation for soldiers from all military forces, amounting to one million five hundred thousand Lebanese pounds per month, to be given to each soldier in order for the military forces to be able to carry out their duties and join their barracks during these difficult times," he continued.

There also discussed the reality we are living in from the rise of the dollar and the outrageous prices of foodstuffs, fuels and medicines, and the necessity of striking with an iron fist in order to be able to determine a minimum basis for a decent living for the Lebanese people at this stage.
