Armenian Pr. bids farewell to Lebanon after three day visit

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan left Beirut International Airport at 10:30 a.m., summing up an official three-day visit to Lebanon during which he met with senior Lebanese officials.              

Deputy Prime Minister, Samir Mokbel representing the President of the Republic Michel Sleiman, Information Minister Walid Daouk and a number of Armenian Deputies were all present at his farewell event at the airport.             

An official farewell ceremony was held today at 10:00 a.m. at Baabda Palace in honor of Sargsyan and Armenian First Lady Rita.                

Sargsyan praised Lebanon's history, describing the country as beacon of democracy in the region.              

"Lebanon is known for its democracy, freedom and plurality,” the president stressed.                  

Sargsyan hailed the role played by the Armenians in Lebanon on different levels and especially in political life.                   

He expressed sorrow over the crisis in Syria which affects Syrians and Armenians who reside in Syria.                   

"All states should help the Syrian people,” he asserted during a dinner held Tuesday evening at the Four Seasons Hotel, in presence of Armenian Ambassador to Lebanon Ashot Kocharyan, political and religious figures.
