Sheikh Assir accuses Sayyed Nasrallah of killing Rafic Hariri

Imam of the Bilal Bin Rabah Mosque Sheikh Ahmad al-Assir said Sunday that the dignity of the Lebanese was undermined when Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah declared May 7 a glorious day. He accused Nasrallah of assassinating former PM Rafic Hariri and the LAF intelligence of conducting “sectarian investigations.”      

Following a protest organized by his partisans outside the Bilal Bin Rabah Mosque under the slogan “Enough disregard for our dignity”, Assir addressed “the conscience of the Shiite community” saying “We want to live together in peace. Tell me one thing we did against the Shi’a.”    

On Syria, he said “We have no interest to participate in ground battles in Syria and there is a great difference between those who stand with President Bashar Assad and those who stand with Hamzeh al-Khatib.”           

Interior Minister Marwan Charbel had arrived in Sidon at noon and held a security meeting at Sidon’s government Serail in the presence of the Governor of the South Nicolas Abou Daher, the region’s leader Brigadier General Tarek Abdallah and high-ranking officials in order to oversee the security measures undertaken in the region.
