Mikati: We can’t build a nation by involving ourselves in external events

Prime Minister Najib Mikati said Monday, "national unity is not an option but an obligation and centrism does not imply impartiality, but a bias towards the nation."

At the inauguration of the Beirut International Arab Book Fair at Biel, Mikati said that "we cannot build a nation by involving ourselves in external events, but by distancing ourselves from them."

“Exclusion is impossible, rupture is impossible,” he said stressing that the nation can only be built through dialogue.

Earlier on Monday, Mikati  had called the representative of the ICRC in Lebanon Jorge Montagne urging him to intervene with the concerned authorities in Syria to recover the bodies of those killed in the Talkalakh ambush and receive information on the fate of the others.
