FM Bou Habib: Higher Relief Commission assigned to evacuate Lebanese nationals in Ukraine
Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdallah Bou Habib announced on Saturday that “it was decided to assign the Higher Relief Commission to evacuate Lebanese nationals residing in Ukraine and who have sought refuge in Poland and Romania, by air, at a date to be determined later, and according to circumstances and data announced at the time, in consultation with the embassies of Lebanon in Ukraine, Poland and Romania.”
After a meeting with Prime Minister Najib Mikati, he said, "It was found that there are no safe corridors to leave Ukraine, so we advise the Lebanese who are currently there to stay in safe places until things clear up.”
“As for the Lebanese who chose to cross the border on their personal responsibility, they are asked to take utmost care and caution for their own safety," he added.
The meeting was attended by Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers Judge Mahmoud Makkieh, and diplomatic advisor to PM Mikati ambassador Boutros Asaker
