Importers of used cars and motorcycles stage protest in Beirut

Importers of used cars and motorcycles staged a sit-in on Wednesday in front of entrance number 3 of Beirut’s port.

Their sit-in was in protest of the new traffic law ratified on the 12th of November preventing them from discharging the cars they imported.

The ratified law also banns importing used cars and vehicles.

Importers gathered upon the request of Lebanon Used Cars Importers Directory and the Lebanese Association of Motorcycles.

Protesters said that the law is unfair for importers seemingly since it does not give them the chance to emancipate the cars stored in the port and asked for mechanisms that would allow them to do so.

Protesters added that they will be taking escalatory steps if their demands are not met.
