House Speaker Nabih Berri held a press conference at his Ain al-Tineh residence on Monday, where he discussed a number of positions vis-a-vis the impending electoral deadline, and the broad electoral program’s headlines of his political party “Amal Movement” and Parliamentary bloc “Development and Liberation.”
The House Speaker reiterated that parliamentary elections would take place on time, on May 15, 2022.
He insisted that the voices of voters, who, for the biggest part, hang below the poverty line, be louder than those of competing candidates.
Moreover, Berri stressed the paramount importance of having the Lebanese people's voice reach the executive authority and the government before reaching polls, calling on the government to exert relentless efforts to enhance social, living, health, and security stability before it is too late.
Touching on maritime demarcation, Berri insisted that Lebanon should not “forfeit, concede, barter, or bargain not even with a single cup of water or a cubic meter of its wealth."
