Siniora: If I were PM, I would have adopted the dissociation policy

The head of the Future Bloc Fouad Siniora stressed on Friday that if he were heading the government, he would have adopted the dissociation policy regarding Syria.

Speaking during a political TV show, Siniora noted that Lebanon has been the witness to many attacks carried out by the Syrian regime, killing many Lebanese citizens, while several Lebanese towns were subject to shelling and kidnappings. He added, “The current government headed by Najib Mikati should have summoned the Syrian ambassador to protest all the aforementioned events, but did not.”

On the other hand, Siniora reiterated that “they are against any intervention in Syrian affairs,” stressing that “this would not mean necessarily mean withholding all opinions pertaining to humanitarian affairs, or in support of various Arab Spring movements.”
