Kheireddine to LBCI: Army is capable of controlling the situation in Tripoli

State Minister Marwan Kheireddine, said in an interview with LBCI TV show Nharkom Said that the situation in Tripoli has deteriorated, stressing that the current and previous cabinets failed to assure Tripoli’s needs on all levels.

According to Kheireddine, the problem in Tripoli could be solved by spreading awareness and improving the living situation of the residents, revealing that the cabinet is considering endorsing $100 Million for the city but has to find the sources to finance the project.

The minister added that “the Lebanese Army is capable of controlling the situation in Tripoli but will have to lose a lot of soldiers, which is unacceptable.”

Kheireddine also called for isolating Lebanon from the Syrian crisis because "Syria is witnessing an international war on its territories."

On the Syrian refugees issues, Kheireddine stated that the cabinet is approaching the case from a humanitarian point of view, emphasizing that clashes between Syrian rebels and the Syrian Army erupting on Lebanese territories is unacceptable.
