REPORT: Lebanon has not yet received judicial warrants for the arrest of Hariri, Sakr et al.

Arrest warrants issued against Former Lebanese PM Saad Hariri, MP Okab Sakr, and the Free Syrian Army official Loay Mokdad on charges of arming Syrian rebels have yet to reach the Lebanese Judiciary following their circulation to Arab countries by the Syrian Interior Ministry.        


In this context, Justice Minister Shakib Qortbawi and the General Prosecutor Judge Hatem Madi assured that the judiciary did not receive these warrants, but only knew of them from what was reported in the media.                        

For his part, the Syrian Chief Public Attorney, Muhammad al-Louji said that Lebanese authorities should have lifted Former PM Hariri and PM Sakr's political immunity and referred them to the Lebanese judicial authorities or to the Syrian judiciary upon the bilateral agreements signed between the two nations.           

As for the Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdel Karim Ali, he discussed this issue with Lebanese Foreign Affairs Minister Adnan Mansour.                      

Commenting on the topic, Saad Hariri mockingly described Syrian President Bachar Assad as a "monster who now speaks of justice, law and order."               

Hariri added, Assad will face the Lebanese Judicial Authorities for his involvement in assassinations and terrorist attacks throughout the country.                 


In this context, attorney Rashad Salameh said that he has accepted the Syrian request to file a law suit against former Prime Minister Saad Hariri, MP Okab Sakr and Syrian opposition figure Loay Mokdad, and added that he discussed this issue with Ambassador Ali.
