Introduction to the evening news 27-12-2012

International peace envoy Lakhdar Brahimi left Damascus, leaving a solution proposal for the Syrian crisis that requires the formation of a transitional government with full authority until the new elections are held. Practically, this means that President Bashar Assad will remain in his position, but his powers will be transferred to the government, until his mandate's end in 2014. France rushed in rejecting the proposal, holding Assad responsible for the death of 45 thousand victims.             

Moscow, which is preparing to receive Brahimi Saturday denied that the proposal is the result of a US-Russian consensus; while the Russian Foreign Minister Serguei Lavrov said after meeting Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Makdad that there is "no alternative to a peaceful resolution of (Syria's) internal conflict."        

On the Lebanese scene, the cabinet approved the decrees of the Petroleum Administration Committee, raising a new debate regarding the high allocations granted to the committee's members. On the other hand, two issues were postponed till next year, including the pay scale file and the issue of the Syrian refugees. Accordingly, the refugees joined the teachers and the civil servants in what has dubbed as "the long wait".                

In the sports scene, scandals seem to be taking the spotlight especially in football teams. After the Al Ahed Club, the Al-Nejmeh club is taking the throws.
