The head of the General Labor Confederation (GLC) Ghassan Ghosn said that the Confederation was not pressured to accept the settlement on wage increase, adding that there were serious attempts to reach an acceptable and reasonable settlement.
Ghosn told “Nharkom Said” TV show that the Union Coordination Committee benefited from the increase and did not turn it down. “The Committee also made compromises”, he said.
Ghosn said that the Union raised the ceiling substantially and got an increase of more than 40%. “Reaching this number is not a matter of pride for the workers who must get at least 1,500,000 a month to be able to have the minimum of a decent life”, he said.
