SCC defers general strike until the 23rd of January

The Syndicate Coordinating Committee decided on Monday to cancel its planned strike set for Wednesday the 16th of January instead deferring it till the 23rd of aforementioned month.

The SCC added that on the agreed upon date, a central demonstration will kick off at 11 AM from the information ministry passing by the commercial markets toward the Grand Serail.

The SCC pointed out that its previously scheduled strike was canceled due to the bad weather conditions which prevented some of its offices from holding meetings in the past week.

It is worth noting that the SCC called on its constituent committees to implement a general strike on the 5th, 6th, and 7th of February in order to hinder the work of public institutions as well as public and private schools.

The SCC also mentioned that the general strike will lead to an open-ended strike to ensure the referral of the pay scale to the parliament without modifications.
