Ghosn meets Mikati: wage raise fiasco continues

Following his meeting with PM Najib Mikati on Wednesday, the head of the General Labor Confederation (GLC) Ghassan Ghosn stressed that the wage raise granted to Lebanese workers is “a step forward”, adding that the GLC is not afraid to ask for its rights.

Ghosn said that he called for the modifying the decree so that it would guarantee the rights of all employees.

Speaking on the refusal of employers to raise wages, Ghosn said that only the cabinet has the right to devise social policies.

“PM Mikati stressed that the decree issued by the cabinet must be read and studied closely to reach a formula acceptable to all”, Ghosn added.
