Jumblatt: Parliamentary elections are just a phase

In his weekly publication with Al Anbaa Newspaper, Head of the National Struggle Front bloc MP Walid Jumblatt stressed that “the political parties who are hoping to vanquish their opponents via the upcoming parliamentary elections are mistaken.”

“The parliamentary elections are just a phase that should be followed by national dialogue,” he stated.

Jumblatt then criticized those who are using a sectarian speech to mobilize the people and “advised” them to invest this energy in finding solutions to the social issues Lebanese citizens are bearing.

Jumblatt also commented on President Michel Sleiman’s support for civil marriage in Lebanon and said that this initiative must lead to overcoming sectarian barriers.
