Syrian Ambassador denies Syrian kidnappings
Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdel-Karim Ali denied all allegations that the Syrian embassy is involved in the abduction of Syrian protesters in Lebanon, and railed against slander campaigns and weapons smuggling operations from Lebanon to Syria.

Following his meeting with Foreign Affairs Minister Ali Manosur, Ali voiced surprise when hearing statements made by the ISF Commander Brig. Gen. Ashraf Rifi who said that the Syrian embassy has a hand in the kidnapping of Syrian protesters in Lebanon.

“These accusations will seriously damage bilateral relations”, Ali said, adding that the present cooperation on the security level has been positive and beneficial to Lebanon so far.

Ali stressed that the conventions ratified between Lebanon and Syria obligate the concerned authorities, namely the security apparatuses, to secure both countries.

“Neither Lebanese nor Syrian officials have the right to use harmful language to encourage vandalism and weapons smuggling”, Ali added.

Ali stressed that the weapons smuggling operations shown by the Lebanese media require a responsible reconsideration because such actions influence the security of Lebanon and Syria.
