Bassil: Refugee camps will become arming centers

Energy Minister Gebran Bassil said on Friday that he is against establishing camps for the displaced Syrians in Lebanon and pointed out that this issue may not be separated from politics.

After meeting with the UNHCR representative in Lebanon Ninette Kelley, Bassil said that so long as the Lebanese authorities are not adjusting the issue of the camps on the borders and on the interior front, refugees will remain displaced outside the camps.

"Unfortunately, these camps will become arming centers and places for wanted persons to hide; such issues are not humanitarian, but on the contrary they are related to the Syrian crisis and its security and military repercussions," Bassil said.
