Bkerke meeting: Open to any electoral law which guarantees just representation

A Christian meeting was held Thursday at Bkerke between Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Rai, Head of the Change and Reform bloc MP Michel Aoun, Kataeb leader Amin Gemayel, head of the Marada Movement Sleiman Frangieh, MPs Georges Adwan, Alain Aoun, Boutros Harb, Sami Gemayel, former ministers Ziad Baroud and Youssef Saad, Archbishop Boulos Sayah and Maronite bishop Samir Mazloum.     

Following the meeting, a statement was issued stressing that the meeting was held upon the invitation of Patriarch Beshara Rai. Participants reiterated their stances and assessed the status quo in regards to the new electoral law and the result of the joint committee’s meetings. They voiced their openness to any electoral law which guarantees just representation for all the Lebanese national components in virtue of the constitution.      

The statement added that Lebanese Forces Chief Samir Geagea did not attend the meeting for security reasons.
