Prime Minister Mikati urges Mufti Qabbani to convene juristic council

A statement issued after PM Mikati's meeting with former premiers called on Mufti Qabbani to convene the juristic council before Saturday.

The Prime Minister had held a meeting Wednesday with Former premieres whereby they aimed at paving the way for the Higher Islamic Council to continue its work, until the election of a new council, calling on the incumbent council to hold a session, in the presence of all its members.

The statement said that officials were adamant on steering Mufti Qabbani clear of disputes, personal interests and narrow accounts, and urged Qabbani to respond utterly to this call since his refusal to collaborate with the heads of government will entail airtight measures in this regard.

PM Mikati also met with Minister of Displaced Alaa Eddine Terro and discussed with him various current files including the electoral file.

In this regard, Minister Terro said that the electoral draft worked upon between the Progressive Socialist Party and the Future bloc is being discussed with all Lebanese factions.

Mikati also met with General Prosecutor Judge Hatem Madi.
