French FM says Netanyahu's provocation could lead Lebanon to chaos

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's threats to destroy Lebanon as was done in Gaza if Hezbollah was not addressed.

In an interview with the French public television channel France 2, Barrot stated, "Lebanon's situation is catastrophic."

He warned that "if this provocation goes ahead, it will drag Lebanon, a country friendly to France, into chaos while it is suffering from a significant state of weakness."

Barrot emphasized that "this would pose security problems for Israel greater than those that existed before the military operations in Lebanon."
