Army arrests 3 gunmen following gunfight in Tripoli

The Lebanese army announced on Saturday that it arrested three gunmen for firing on a patrol after tossing a hand grenade in the northern city of Tripoli.

The communiqué issued by the army command added that three armed men riding a Mercedes in the area of Duwwar Abu Ali in Tripoli tossed a hand grenade and opened fire in an attempt to breach security and terrorize citizens.

“When an army patrol reached the area, it came under fire and the patrol fired back, injuring one of them.” the communiqué added.

The members of the patrol then chased the assailants and stopped them. It also seized their arms and ammunition.

The wounded man was taken to a nearby hospital and the rest were sent for questioning.
