Foreign Ministry sends letter to Syrian Embassy

The Lebanese Ministry of Expatriates and Foreign Affairs sent on Monday 8, April 2013 a letter to the Syrian Embassy in Lebanon upon the instructions of the President Michel Sleiman, the state run National News Agency reported.

The letter is reportedly of a protesting nature, and includes copies of security reports on the latest Syrian airstrikes on Lebanese territories.

Last Thursday, President Sleiman had met with the Lebanese Armed Forces General Commander Jean Kahwagi, whereby he requested the hand over of copies of the raids in the northeastern town of Arsal that took place on April 3rd and March 18th.

The latest assault took place Monday-Tuesday overnight when three mortar shells hit the town of Dabbabiyeh, north of Akkar.

For its part, Syria denies attacking Lebanon, claiming that assaults had largely occurred from inside the country's territories. Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdul Karim Ali reiterated that statement yesterday.
