March14's General Secretariat slams all attempts to jeopardize Lebanon

March14's General Secretariat condemned on Wednesday "Syria's violation of Lebanon's sovereignty on the Lebanese-Syrian borders", calling on the Lebanese State to deploy its Army along the border and to be escorted by the international forces, as per the UN resolution 1701.

Following its weekly meeting, the General Secretariat said that mortar shelling, abductions, violations of the territorial integrity and attempts to compromise the safety of Lebanese nationals are 'a red line', regardless of the perpetrators' identity.

The Secretariat denounced "Hezbollah's involvement in the Syrian crisis 'upon the order of Iran'", adding that such actions will foment a Sunnite-Shiite strife and jeopardize Lebanon's national unity and coexistence as well as the whole region.

In this context, the General Secretariat called on Hezbollah to withdraw immediately from the Syrian territories in a bid to prevent the Hermel assaults from spreading throughout the country.

Separately, the Secretariat reiterated its support for Prime Minister-Designate Tammam Salam in forming a 'national unity government', and called on him "not to bow" to any pressure and to work based on the trust that all the Lebanese parties had granted him.
