REPORT: President Sleiman follows up on Tripoli's Bedawi security situation

                          
President Michel Sleiman followed up on Monday the security situation in northern Lebanon following the death of three men in clashes over the removal of building violations.                

In this context, President Sleiman met at the Baabda palace with caretaker Defense Minister Fayez Ghosn, Caretaker Interior Minister Marwan Charbel, Lebanese Armed Forces Commander General Jean Kahwagi and the acting head of the Internal Security Forces, General Roger Salem.           

President Sleiman gave his instructions to maintain security and stability in the region.          

His instructions came as residents of Wadi al-Nahle region of Bedawi buried three dead men amid high tensions on the city's streets.    

On another note, Tripoli clerics and authorities said that "the city has never and will never embrace any forces that use violence means."

They added that no one will be attacked over their beliefs, religion, or political views.

They accused Hezbollah of paving the way for Jihad in Syria, demanding that Lebanon be kept away from the Syrian crisis.

Meanwhile, cautious calm prevailed in the region of Bedawi after Sunday night's clashes.             

This as almost 16 public and private schools located in the region closed their doors.         

Members of the Bedawi municipality reopened the internal roads which were blocked with tires and barriers in preparation for the funeral of Mohammed Abdullah Seif and Mahmoud Raya; two of the area's residents killed in the clashes.                

Violence erupted on Sunday evening between security forces and residents of Wadi al-Nahle in the region of Bedawi leaving a member of the Internal Security Forces, 2 residents dead, and 10 others injured.
