German delegation meets with foreign affairs committee, tackles issue of refugees

The parliamentary Committee tasked with Foreign and Expatriates’ Affairs met on Thursday with a parliamentary German delegation and discussed the issue of the continuous Israeli violations and the issue of the Syrian refugees in Lebanon.

The conferees stressed the need to find a solution for the Syrian crisis on the political and economic levels.

The United Nations said in mid-April that the number of Syrian refugees flocking into Lebanon is estimated at 450,000, and the inflow surpasses the capacity of the country by all means.

The largest surge of Syrian refugees has been seen in North Lebanon and the Bekaa valley where their living conditions continue to deteriorate as many of them are living in overcrowded and unsanitary circumstances that are causing diseases and infections.
