Two Austrian UNIFIL peacekeepers injured in road accident south of Beirut

Two Austrian members of the U.N. peacekeeping mission in Lebanon were injured in a road accident on Thursday afternoon while traveling in a logistics convoy heading south from Beirut, UNIFIL said in a statement.

According to the mission, one soldier sustained minor injuries, while the other was more seriously hurt but is not in a life-threatening condition. The Lebanese Red Cross responded to the scene and transported both peacekeepers to a hospital, where they were later discharged.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident, and only UNIFIL vehicles were damaged.

UNIFIL said it wishes both soldiers a full and speedy recovery.
