Cardinal Rai meets Maduro, pays tribute to Sleiman

Lebanon's Ambassador to Venezuela Elias Lebbos hosted on Wednesday a reception ceremony in honor of the Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rai whereby the latter called on the Parliament to agree on a new electoral law that meets the aspirations of all the Lebanese people, living in Lebanon and abroad.

In this context, Cardinal Rai paid tribute to President Michel Sleiman as well as to Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro, noting that "Maduro appreciates the efforts exerted by the Lebanese Diaspora on many levels".

Cardinal Rai also pointed out that "the Venezuelan President is concerned with the situation in the Middle East", adding that "Maduro is counting on the role that Lebanon should play in this regard".
