Rifi to LBCI: Military intervention in Syria is a “crime”

The former head of the Lebanese Internal Security Forces (ISF), Major General Ashraf Rifi told LBCI on Sunday that the current situation in the city of Tripoli is "critical", calling for shielding the city and Lebanon from the incidents taking place in neighboring Arab countries.

In this regard, General Rifi said that the military involvement of any party in the Syrian conflict is a “crime”, pointing out that an international resolution was issued in order to spare Lebanon the surrounding conflicts, adding that “the deterioration of the Lebanese situation benefits no one”.

Separately, General Rifi highlighted the need to hold the upcoming parliamentary elections on their due date, noting that their deferral could only happen for technical reasons, adding that his relation with Prime Minister-Desginate Tammam Salam is “excellent”.
