Heavy rains drown roads in Lebanon and snow cuts off Aynata-Arz road

Lebanese roads are witnessing severe traffic, particularly on the coastal highway from Jounieh to Beirut, due to heavy rains that have fallen across greater Beirut since the early morning hours.

Lebanese roads are experiencing severe vehicle traffic, particularly on the coastal highway from Jounieh to Beirut because due to heavy rain.

In Badawi, heavy rains cut off the international highway causing a major traffic jam; as a result, some cars broke down while others became stranded in areas of high water. What worsened the traffic jam were the public works carried out on the international highway.

As for Deir ‘Ammar, the water submerged the international highway tunnel leading to Menya, Akkar and the northern border, preventing drivers from entering.

In Koura, rain caused many car accidents especially due to the works carried out on the district’s roads. The poor maintenance of roads also led to an increase in the level of muddy water, submerging cars at times and causing them to break down in the middle of the road.

Furthermore, snow cut off the Aynata-Arz road.
