REPORT: Gunfire erupts between supporters of Assir, Popular Nasserite Organization

Gunfire erupted on Wednesday after a dispute between supporters of the Imam Bilal bin Rabah mosque Sheikh Ahmad al-Assir and the Popular Nasserite Organization near Ain el-Hilweh, South Lebanon.

Meanwhile, prayers were held for a deceased Hezbollah fighter killed in Syria’s al-Qusayr, identified as Saleh Ahmad al-Sabbagh, noting that he was buried in the city’s Shiite cemetery.

Earlier, supporters of Sheikh Assir and Sidon's residents cut off roads leading to Sidon’s new cemetery in protest of the burial of the aforementioned Hezbollah fighter in the Sunnite cemetery, but were reopened by the Lebanese Armed Forces later on.

Hezbollah has held funerals for fighters whom officials close to the group say died while fighting with the Syrian troops at al-Qusayr.
