Sheikh Rahim to LBCI: Arms are widespread, mainly after the May 7th incidents

Member of the Association of Muslim Scholars, Salafist Sheikh Nabil Rahim, stressed on Thursday that “it is the 10th round of violence in the city of Tripoli since the onset of the Syrian revolution," noting that the Syrian crisis as well as political and sectarian conflicts are exacerbating tensions between Bab al-Tabbaneh and Jabal Mohsen.

In an interview with LBCI's Nharkom Said TV Show, Sheikh Rahim said that “arms are widespread among parties," mainly after the May 7th incidents, stressing that “the use of weapons has become an uncontrolled phenomenon."

Sheikh Rahim also pointed out that the conflict began when “a car opened fire from Bab al-Tabbaneh toward Jabal Mohsen," adding that after the ceasefire was brokered and the Lebanese Armed Forces were deployed, a number of people then counter attacked opening fire from Jabal Mohsen toward Bab al-Tabbaneh, killing 3 persons, and thus spiraling the situation out of control.
