PM Salam condemns killing of journalists, calls for protection of media

Lebanon’s Prime Minister Nawaf Salam condemned the targeting of journalists, describing it as a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and a clear breach of rules that guarantee the protection of media personnel in times of war.

In a statement, Salam said that Lebanon, which highly values press freedom and its role, remains committed to protecting journalists and called for respect for international law, the safeguarding of civilian lives, and an end to Israeli attacks targeting them.

On behalf of the government, he extended his deepest condolences to the families of Ali Cheaib, Fatima Ftouni, and Mohammad Ftouni, as well as to their colleagues in the media sector.
