Berri meets with MP Sami Gemayel, contacts various officials

Speaker Nabih Berri met on Monday with the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi, who informed him of the Iranian initiative to solve the Syrian crisis.

The Iranian ambassador, who refused to comment on Hezbollah’s participation al-Qusayr battles, briefed Berri on a conference concerning the Syrian crisis, scheduled to be held in Tehran on Wednesday, in the presence of representatives of 40 countries and the Unites Nations.

For his part, the Syrian ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdel Karim Ali discussed with Berri the “achievements of the Syrian Army”.

Earlier in the day, Berri met on Monday at his residence in Ain el-Tineh with Kataeb Party MP Sami Gemayel who left without making any statement.

On another note, Speaker Berri contacted Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Prime Minister-Designate Tammam Salam, and the Head of the Kataeb Party Amine Gemayel.
