March 14 General Secretariat blames Tripoli’s situation on the al-Qusayr battles

The General Secretariat of March 14 said on Wednesday that “the terrorists of the Syrian regime fought in Nahr el-Bared in 2007 with the help of Hezbollah against the Lebanese Army," pointing out that dissociation from the conflicts taking place in Lebanon is a “great sin”.

During an extraordinary session held at the Future bloc's headquarters in Tripoli, March 14 General Secretariat called on the General Prosecution to issue arrest warrants against all those threatening Tripoli’s security including the head of the political committee at the Arab Democratic Party Refaat Ali Eid.

“The situation in Tripoli has been calm since the Nahr el-Bared clashes; however, the situation deteriorated with the eruption of the al-Qusayr battles,” the Secretariat concluded.

The city of Tripoli has become increasingly volatile in recent months due to the long-simmering civil war in neighboring Syria, where the Sunni majority is leading a revolt against President Bashar al-Assad.
