Lebanon, Syria agree to establish joint business council, sources tell LBCI

Discussions between Lebanese Public Works Minister Fayez Rasamny and Syrian Transport Minister Yarub Badr focused heavily on border crossing issues, sources told LBCI on Saturday.

The Lebanese delegation reportedly called for accelerating the reopening of the Aboudieh border crossing during the talks.

Separately, discussions between Lebanese Minister Amer Bisat and Syrian Minister Mohammad Nidal al-Shaar resulted in an agreement to establish a Lebanese-Syrian Business Council.

The council is expected to include Lebanese business figures who are set to visit Syria in June, with the initiative seen as a key preliminary step ahead of the creation of a broader joint business council between the two countries.
