Abou Faour condemns attack against army checkpoint in Deir Ashayer

Caretaker Social Affairs Minister Wael Abou Faour denounced the recent attack launched by gunmen against an army checkpoint in the border town of Deir Ashayer, the state-run National News Agency reported on Sunday.

In this regard, Abou Faour stressed that "the regions of Rashayya and Western Bekaa will remain under the rule of law," calling on all parties to support the Lebanese Armed Forces which are exerting tireless efforts to maintain civil peace and stability.

The Minister also called for launching an investigation and to bring the assailants to justice.

It is not the first time the LAF soldiers fall victim to violence in Lebanon. Three Lebanese Armed Forces' soldiers were killed on Tuesday May 28th, after unknown assailants opened fire at them at 3 am dawn in the region of Wadi Hmeid on the outskirts of Arsal, northeastern Lebanon.
