Min Khoury to LBCI: Parliamentary elections should be held if appeal garners approval

Caretaker Minister of Environment Nazem Khoury said on Tuesday that the Lebanese factions are awaiting the decision of the Constitutional Council in regards to the extension of the parliament's mandate.

He also stressed that the Council is bound to issue the decision on the submitted appeals, noting that parliamentary elections should be held in case the appeal is approved.

Caretaker Minister Khoury's stances came during a phone call with LBCI's Nharkom Said TV show, in which he slammed President Michel Sleiman's request from Iran to exert pressure on Hezbollah to withdraw its fighters from Syria.
