LAF, UNIFIL on high alert after Israeli military force crosses Lebanese border

An Israeli military force, comprised of 8 members, crossed on Wednesday the barbed wire in the Lebanese southern town of Abbasiya.

The Israeli forces were escorted by five armored vehicles; two tanks and three Hummers. An Israeli army bulldozer also arrived to the town later on.

Accordingly, the Lebanese Armed Forces and the UNIFIL forces were in a state of high alert in anticipation of any military development.

For its part, the UNIFIL leadership held several contacts between the Lebanese Armed Forces and the Israel Army in order to quell the situation.
