Sources: Second Turkish powership to arrive to Lebanon in weeks

       
Another Turkish power-generating vessel aimed at providing an additional 85 megawatts of power was expected to start operating on Wednesday but it apparently needs more weeks to reach Lebanon, sources reported on Thursday.         

In this regard, well-informed sources from Karadeniz, the company that operates the ship, told Al-Liwaa daily that the aforementioned powership will need at least four weeks to arrive to Lebanon, due to technical reasons related to the firm's base in Turkey.       

For his part, caretaker Energy and Water Minister Gebran Bassil said yesterday that 1900 megawatts of electricity will be generated during the summer season, raising thus the power supply hours to 16, the state-run National News Agency reported.   
               
Bassil added that the production of electricity will increase by 50%, despite the growing demand of power resulting from the high influx of Syrian refugees in Lebanon. He also noted that Lebanon will enjoy 24/7 power by 2015.   

On the 26th of February, the first Powership, named Fatmagül Sultan, arrived to the Zouk Power Plant port.
