Caretaker Minister Abou Faour meets with US envoy Conelly over Syrian refugees in Lebanon

Caretaker Minister of Social Affairs Wael Abou Faour met on Friday with US Ambassador to Lebanon Maura Connelly.

Discussions featured high on the case of the Syrian refugees in Lebanon and its burden on the country.

Caretaker Minister Abou Faour said in this regard that the situation is deteriorating on the economic, social and security levels, stressing Lebanon's incapability to further bear the loads.

The UN Higher Council for Refugees (UNHCR) said on Sunday that the number of Syrian refugees in Lebanon has surpassed 511,000, marking an increase of 11,000 per week.

The UNHCR weekly report said there are currently 437,000 Syrian refugees registered with the agency while more than 73,000 others are waiting for their registration to be completed.
