Bassil: Renting boats is a pressing issue

Energy Minister Jibran Bassil said on Friday that the cabinet will make a final decision on the issue of renting boats, adding that this is only a temporary and partial solution to this problem.

Following the second meeting headed by PM Mikati for the ministerial committee in charge of following up on the oil issue, Bassil stressed that renting boats falls under the comprehensive plan for the electricity sector.

“The committee looked into the financial and technical ideas put forth by a group designated by the Ministry of Energy and representing all other ministries. We have also discussed the possibility of establishing a body to manage the oil sector”, Bassil said.

Bassil urged the ministerial committee to complete the work entrusted to it as soon as possible, since this issue is considered an urgent and pressing one that should be given the care needed.
