Band members including Robert Del Naja and Grant Marshall were taken on a tour of the Al-Naqab center in the camp, which offers classes and activities primarily for Palestinian refugees who have recently arrived from neighboring Syria, The Independent reported.
All the proceeds of the concert that will be held tonight (Tuesday July 29) will be donated to the Al-Naqab center to fund a new public library in the camp and for the support of new ambulance services in the Gaza Strip.
The band, long known for their solidarity with the Palestinian cause used their headline slot at Longitude Festival over the weekend to underscore the widening humanitarian crisis caused by the Israeli onslaught on the narrow coastal enclave.
A lit-up message behind the performers said: "Gaza has been ocupied [sic] or under restrictions since 1948."
The recent acts of war by Israel against the embargoed Gaza Strip has left over 1,000 Palestinians killed, many of which have been civilian casualties. Over 43 Israelis have been killed, 40 of which have been soldiers.
