Why Did This Woman Choose To End Her Own Life?
29-year-old old Brittany Maynard, a terminally ill brain cancer sufferer who has recently become the face of the right-to-die movement, ended her life Saturday at her Portland home.

Maynard was previously diagnosed with stage four glioblastoma, one of the most aggressive forms of brain cancer, and given no more than six months to live, according to People Magazine.

California girl Maynard had voiced her decision to move to Oregon as she intended to die under Oregon’s Death-with-dignity act by taking a lethal dose of depressants (under doctor prescription) in a YouTube video.

The move was part of an online video campaign advocating a nationwide expansion of death with dignity laws that was launched three weeks ago in collaboration with Compassion & Choices, a non-profit organization advocating the right of patients to access end-of-life options.

Ever since, Maynard started receiving intense media coverage and social media support. She even released another video on October 29 renouncing her decision but nonetheless ended up sticking to her plan three days later.

"Goodbye to all my dear friends and family that I love. Today is the day I have chosen to pass away with dignity in the face of my terminal illness" she wrote in a Facebook Post.

"The world is a beautiful place, travel has been my greatest teacher, my close friends and folks are the greatest givers…Goodbye world. Spread good energy. Pay it forward!"
