Iraqi government concerned about Syrian crisis repercussions

The Iraqi government voiced its concern over the repercussions of the situation in Syria on the security and interests of Iraq and the region. Meanwhile, it stressed the right of the Syrian people to choose their democratic regime and be given their freedoms.

The Iraqi cabinet’s spokesperson Ali al-Dabbagh said that implementing the Arab initiative to deal with the crisis in Syria would be the right thing to do, adding that the approaches adopted by the Arab League do not lead to the desired end.

“The Iraqi government is against the internationalization of the Syrian crisis or the imposition of economic sanctions”.
