Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad al-Maliki said on Thursday that the president was still waiting for a credible offer from the United States for an alternative to a planned bid for statehood in the United Nations next week.                 

Al-Maliki said Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas would make the statehood request after he addresses the General Assembly on September 23rd “in the absence of any serious alternative”.
