Erekat: Panetta’s visit aims at pushing for resumption of talks with Israel

Palestinian chief negotiator Saeb Erekat said that U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta’s visit to the Palestinian territories aims at pushing for the resumption of direct negotiations with Israel.

“During his meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Panetta reiterated the commitment of the U.S. Administration to the 2-State Solution for it does not only serve the Palestinians and Israelis’ interests, but also the interests of the U.S., and the security and peace of both countries”, Erekat told AFP following Panetta’s meeting with President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah.
